WPT Enterprises, Inc., the company responsible for the TV show World Poker Tour (WPT) said the result for the third 2005 trimester (Q3 2005) showed an important loss on their incomes.
Last year, WPT Enterprises declare earnings for 3 million dollars on Q3 2004, but at the same trimester for 2005, their earnings were just 2 million dollars, which means a 28% drop. This fall appears to be the result of the diminish of the TV show broadcast, because just one episode of the current season was broadcasted the last trimester.
This earnings results are based on the United States only, and this is the main reason of the drop, because the company sold 6 episodes on Q3 2004 and only 1 episode on Q3 2005.
Aside of the earnings drop, the company declared a rise on the net loss. The net losses for the Q3 2004 period were 0.5 million dollars, but for Q3 2005 the losses were 1.6 million dollars.
Steve Lipscomb, CEO and General Manager of the company said the company is doing well anyway, and is ready for another fall in the fourth trimester.
WPT is preparing the launch of a new TV show, the Professional Poker Tour (PPT), but the earnings will not arrive until the end of the 2005 fiscal year.
