Huck Seed wins the 2008 Canadian Poker Open

Huck Seed, winner of the 1996 World Series of Poker, took home the first place of the Main Event of the 2008 Canadian Open Poker Championships in Calgary, Alberta. The tournament took place at The Deerfoot Inn and Casino and the American player defeated Canadian star “Yukon” Brad Booth.

“This was an amazing tournament in terms of both structure and quality of players,” Seed said. “I love it when the cream rises to the top and I get a chance to play with the best in the world. I am so happy that I finally won a heads up tournament!”. The first prize of the Canadian championship was $100,000.

Kelly B Kellner, President and CEO of HeadsUp Entertainment Inc., the organizer of the event, expressed the company’s contentment for the outcome of the tournament and the good work of the staff at the Deerfoot Inn and Casino. “They were amazing and that is reflected in the comments from all of the players,” Kellner added.

The Main Event of the 2008 Canadian Open Poker Championships was part of five daily tournaments in which more than 600 players faced each other to win almost $700,000 in combined prize pools.
